• Two new COVID-19 cases reported in Jackson County

    Jackson County Health Department was notified in the past 24 hours of two Jackson County residents confirmed to have contracted COVID-19. The individuals are as follows:
    • Female – one teen;
    • Male – one in his thirties.

    They acquired the disease either through contact with known cases or through transmission in the community (i.e., unable to trace back to a known source). They are being placed in isolation.

    Thirty-four active cases are currently being managed. To date, there have been 1,286 confirmed cases in the county, including 24 related deaths. Five individuals were released from isolation, in accordance with CDC guidelines, bringing the total released to 1,228 individuals.

    People are encouraged to continue practicing the following guidance from public health to reduce transmission of COVID-19:
    1) Maintain social distance from others as much as possible;
    2) Wear a face mask out in public;
    3) Avoid social gatherings, especially indoors, and limit gathering size;
    4) Wash hands frequently;
    5) Stay home if you are symptomatic; and
    6) Work with health department officials as they conduct contact tracing.
