• Two COVID-19 related deaths in Jackson County

    Jackson County Health Department sadly announces two deaths related to COVID-19. The individuals
    are both male, one in his sixties and the other in his forties. Both were previously confirmed to have
    acquired the disease.

    The health department was not notified in the past 24 hours of any new cases with Jackson County
    residents. To date, there have been 319 confirmed cases in Jackson County, including sixteen deaths
    related to the disease. Three more individuals were released from isolation in accordance with CDC
    guidelines, bringing the total released to 271 individuals. Thirty-two active cases are currently being
    managed.

    If you have a fever, cough, difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle aches, loss of taste or smell, nausea or
    diarrhea, call your health care provider for further guidance. Three providers are conducting COVID-19
    testing of eligible individuals in Jackson County: Southern Illinois Healthcare (SIH) – Call 1-844-988-7800;
    Shawnee Health Service – Call 618-519-9200; and SIU Center for Family Medicine – Call 618-536-6621.
