Three new COVID-19 positives in Jackson County 6.8.2020
Jackson County Health Department was notified in the past 24 hours of three Jackson County residents confirmed
to have contracted COVID-19. The individuals are as follows:
• Female – One in her thirties, and one in her eighties;
• Male – One in his seventies.
All acquired the disease through close contact with a known case, or through transmission in the community (i.e.,
unable to trace back to a known source). They are being placed in isolation.
To date, there have been 305 laboratory confirmed cases in Jackson County, including eleven deaths related to
the disease. There have been 256 individuals released from isolation in accordance with CDC guidelines. Thirtyeight active cases are currently being managed.
The Southern Illinois Region remains Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois plan. Jackson County Health Department
recommends that businesses and organizations follow the guidance to help reduce the risk of their employees,
customers and clients of contracting COVID-19. The “Phase 3 Guidelines for Reopening Business and Returning
People to Work Safely” can be found at www2.illinois.gov/dceo. There are common guidelines listed for all types
of businesses, plus industry specific guidance.
