    About the Author
Wendy Kesselman (1940-   ) is a playwright, author, composer, and songwriter. She began her career in the late 1960’s writing children’s books. She was nominated for the Antionette Perry (Tony) Award in 1997 for the newly adapted “The Diary of Anne Frank.”
Earlier versions of the play, though quite popular, have been criticized for material deleted by Anne’s father, Otto Frank. Kesselman’s reworked play includes material from the expanded edition of the diary published in 1991, giving the play a less sentimental and more authentic tone. Kesselman also added more Jewish references. As a result, the play is more realistic and more powerful.
