Have a merry, dysfunctional Christmas with the Griswolds at The Varsity
“National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” returns to The Varsity this year on Friday, Dec. 21.
The third National Lampoon Vacation movie reunites Chevy Chase (Clark Griswold) and Beverly D’Angelo (Ellen Griswold) with director John Hughes. This time, Clark attempts to give the Griswolds "the most fun-filled old-fashioned family Christmas ever." He’s gone a bit overboard with a trip to the woods for the tree, 25,000 outdoor lights, oversized presents, and way too many relatives. Add in uninvited cousin Eddy (Randy Quaid) and his clan, who show up in their camper and the dysfunction and comedy mount.
Clark is expecting a large Christmas bonus that will cover the cost of the surprise backyard swimming pool he already ordered. But when the boss cuts the bonus, he snaps.
The equally funny supporting cast includes Johnny Galecki and Juliette Lewis as the Griswold kids, E.G. Marshall and Doris Roberts as one set of grandparents and John Randolph and Diane Ladd as the other. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Nicholas Guest play Clark’s nemesis neighbors.
“Christmas Vacation” is rated PG-13.
