• Carbondale Kicks Off 2020 Holiday Season A Little Different

    Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and safety concerns of the community, the Lights Fantastic Parade will not take place this year. We are saddened to have to cancel the parade, this year but we are looking forward to celebrating our 30th Anniversary in 2021! Although the parade itself is not happening there are several events for you and your family to participate in, while social distancing to keep the community, to kick off the 2020 Holiday Season!

    The 2020 Lights Fantastic Committee Events:

    City of Carbondale Holiday Tree Lighting - Friday, December 4, 5:00pm
    Join Mayor Henry at the Town Square Pavilion for the annual City of Carbondale Tree Lighting. For more information, check out the City of Carbondale Facebook page after December 1.

    Cookie Walk Scavenger Hunt - Saturday, December 5, 4-6:00pm
    Carbondale Main Street will again be hosting their annual Cookie Walk Scavenger Hunt, with free treats outside several participating downtown businesses and organizations. For a list scavenger hunt clues and a map, call (618) 529-8040, or go to www.carbondalemainstreet.com after December 1.

    Fantastic Window Display Contest - Winners Announced Saturday, December 5, 5:00pm Downtown businesses and community organizations can again compete this year with their window displays, one storefront at a time! With lights, paint, or other materials, beautify your space to bring cheer to your customers. Judging will take place Friday, December 4 at 5pm and winners will be announced December 5.     Lights Fantastic Float Display – Saturday & Sunday, December 5th & 6th at 6:00pm
    Even though there will not be a parade this year, a few floats will still be available for public viewing at the South Washington Street Concert Venue (between Main Street and Walnut Street). The floats will be lit up on Saturday by 6:00pm and remain lit through the weekend.     Participants are asked to always wear a face mask and practice social distancing, while participating in any of these events.
