Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern IL: Ready to welcome Club Members back
On Wednesday, June 24th the Boys & Girls Clubs Southern Illinois will reopen the Springer Street and school-based sites with modifications and limited numbers to start. At this time, due to the need to have no more than 8 youth and 2 staff per group in a room priority will be given to currently enrolled members. All others will be placed on a waiting list. Here is what families and members need to know on how to get your children/youth signed up for the summer program.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Illinois, Board of Director’s Safety Committee and Chief Executive Officer are releasing the recommendations for transitioning to in-person programming. Extensive social distancing measures, enhanced sanitation measures, and other accommodations will be necessary to ensure the safety of members, employees and their families.
Per IDPH we will adhere to the following requirements:
1. Prohibit more than 10 individuals from gathering in one room;
2. Require social distancing policies; and,
3. Require the use of personal protective equipment provided by the BGCSI
BGCSI will ensure all are wearing face masks and other PPE as appropriate to the duties (i.e., food service and gloves) and risk of exposure, wash hands frequently, conduct temperature and symptom checks before entering any building, regularly clean and sanitize spaces and equipment, restrict the borrowing or sharing of items, and limit capacity in any space to 10 or fewer people. Individuals who show any signs or symptoms of illness should stay home.
All members will need to be registered for the summer program, even if you are already enrolled. There is a short, 1-page summer registration form that must be completed. ALL parents and high school youth MUST participate in an orientation. In order to ensure the health and safety of all youth and their families
Registration will be on Monday and Tuesday, June 22nd and 23rd. Orientation times are daily at 11:00 am, 1:00 and 3:00 pm. There will also be some evening orientations. ALL orientations will be at the Springer street site.
