    Job Description
    Carbondale Community Arts (CCA) has initiated a search for a part-time Gallery Manager. CCA is a not-for-profit
    local arts agency dedicated to cultivating and celebrating the creativity of Southern Illinois by engaging its
    citizens through direct public arts programming, educational outreach, and a community arts access re-granting
    program.

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Job description summary:
    Help shape CCA and advance its mission through: exhibition oversight, gallery maintenance, Gift Gallery
    oversight, programming and special event planning.

    Responsibilities:
    • Staff Board Programming Committee. With guidance from that Committee and the Executive Director,
    schedule exhibitions and performances in the Art Space 304 gallery, the Multi-media gallery and Civic
    Center Corridor exhibition space.
    • Coordinate exhibition documentation and inventory, photo documentation, publicity and related events.
    • Assist artists, as needed, with exhibition setup.
    • Serve as guide/speaker to touring groups, school field trips and to greet and orient visitors to exhibitions
    and performances.
    • Work in concert with SIU and other civic and arts organizations’ schedule of exhibits and programs.
    • Develop collaborations with other curators in the region.
    • Oversee an active consignment shop, featuring local and regional artists
    • Document and promote CCA’s exhibits and programs via the website, social media and local publications
    locally and regionally.
    • Serve as lead for Art Space 304 rentals.
    • Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

    Essential knowledge and skills:
    • Degree in fine art or art history preferred
    • Three years of related experience in a gallery or museum preferred
    • Knowledge of curatorial and registrar duties
    • Retail and display experience
    • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Word processing, spreadsheet, database skills
    • Valid driver's license required

    Pay and schedule:
    • The position pays $15/hour with commission, commensurate with experience
    • Typical work week: 20 hrs/week
