DESCRIPTION:The cities of Carbondale and Murphysboro\, Carbondale Tourism\, the Jackson County Board and the General John A. Logan Museum present "The First Memorial Day" written and directed by Carbondale resident Betsy Brown. \n\n\n\nTwo former Civil War soldiers in April of 1866 speak of the need to remember their fallen comrades and so begins the First Memorial Day. In the play\, we meet the real people\, played by Carbondale youth\, who brought the idea of a Memorial Day to fruition including General John A. Logan and Carbondale's founder\, Daniel Brush.\n\n\n\nThe production will be held at Carbondale Community High School on Saturday\, May 5 at 2 pm. Admission is FREE.
