    This two-day event will provide southern Illinois communities,non-profits, businesses, entrepreneurs and individuals with education, resources and innovative ideas about opportunities in the changing economy.

    During the conference the first day, three keynote speakers will provide background on what’s happening in the economy, and insight into economic diversification opportunities in energy, forestry, agriculture and more. Expert panelists will discuss issues and options for the region. A community forum will give participants the chance to speak to organizations and businesses directly. Attendance is free and open to the public, but registration is encouraged. Lunch is provided for registered participants.

    The second day features a workshop on Biochar by author, entrepreneur and permaculturist Albert Bates.

    These events are sponsored by the Just Transition Fund (www.justransitionfund.org) and hosted locally by ShopCarbondale.com LLC (www.shopcarbondale.com) and The Climate Economy.
