Leave No Trace - Southern Adventures Frontcountry Course
Leave No Trace Frontcountry Southern Adventures includes visiting some of the most beautiful sites in Southern Illinois.
The Master Educator course is an extensive experience designed to immerse participants in Leave No Trace skills and ethics through hands on practice and teaching. The course provides participants with a comprehensive overview of Leave No Trace techniques through practical application in a frontcountry setting. Students who successfully graduate from this course will receive a certificate and will be qualified to offer and teach two-day Leave No Trace Trainer courses as well as shorter Awareness Workshops.
Participants will be camping for the duration of the course at Rocky Ledges on the shore of Little Grassy Lake. Rocky Ledges is an established campsite with tent pads, an established fire ring with benches, an outdoor kitchen and an evaporating e-loo (outhouse). Participants will be living, sleeping and eating in the outdoors. Participants will travel to a different location in Southern Illinois each day and return to Rocky Ledges in the evening. Participants will be responsible for providing their own tent (1 per person) and their own food/cooking supplies. Some equipment may be available for rental.
